In Media, kindergarten classes have been reviewing elements of a story, including plot, characters, and setting. Last week, we read “Edwina, the Dinosaur Who Didn't Know She Was Extinct” by Mo Willems. After reading the popular children’s book, students colored pictures based on the characters, setting, plot, and theme of the book. These pictures were placed on a Storybook Puzzle Piece, which was then delivered to the Morris Museum for a holidaydisplay.
The Storybook Puzzle display at the Morris Museum has puzzle pieces that are decorated by local school children, from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. Several Morris County schools participated, with each class decorating a puzzle piece centered on a well-loved children's story. Hilldale’s puzzle piece will be joined with all the other local schools' pieces to create a giant display for all to see this winter season.
Puzzle pieces will be displayed in the museum’s Main Gallery from December 17th, 2016 to January 31st, 2017. All kindergarten students will get a free pass to the museum in recognition of their hard work.
