Montville Township High School [MTHS] celebrated the Athletic Department’s Annual College Athlete Recognition Day on May 20, 2024.
At the ceremony, nine MTHS Mustangs announced their intentions to compete in college-level sports. Coaches, administrators, families, and the media were on hand to share congratulations with the athletes as each took a moment to pose for photos.
Eight of the students will play Division 3 for their respective sports. One student, Alexis Riley, has signed-on for Division 1 ACHA Ice Hockey at Penn State University.
The event was organized by Assistant to the Athletic Director Michelle Khalaf. Athletic Director Wayne Guarino hosted the afternoon’s activities.
“This is a fantastic day where we get to celebrate our MTHS Mustangs who are moving on to compete at the next level,” Guarino said of College Athlete Recognition Day. “These are stellar athletes who have created exciting moments for our entire community. We are very proud of their accomplishments throughout their time here at MTHS. We will miss them, but we are excited for them, as they move on to compete at the next level.”
Each of the students posed for four photos: individual; with their coach; with the coach, Guarino, and Principal Douglas Sanford; and with their families.
The students also posed for a group photo (l-r): Caroline Slunt, Soccer, Susquehanna University; J.T. Casarico, Track & Field, Kenyon College; Michael McGrath, Football, King's College; James Conlon, Lacrosse, Fairleigh Dickinson University; Brandon Cash, Lacrosse, Susquehanna University; Thomas Longo, Wrestling, Wilkes University; Luke Abilio, Wrestling, Wilkes University; Alexis Riley, D1 ACHA Ice Hockey, Penn State University; & Victoria Zjawin, Swimming, Kean University.
