Program Overview (2024-2025)

Goals
The Montville Extended Day Learning Center’s (MEDLC) goals are to provide a safe haven after school hours for elementary aged children and to provide working parents the emotional security of knowing their children are well cared for and supervised.

Staff
MEDLC has a staff that consists of certified teachers and aides including college students and high school seniors. Our staff help plan and supervise a wide variety of activities.

The MEDLC program is overseen by the Co-Directors and each building’s staff is led by Co-Head Teachers.

Tuition
Tuition for the MEDLC aftercare elementary program is $315.00 per month

The school months have been prorated so the tuition for every month is the same.

Please note that the fee above includes 5 days per week. There is no “as needed” basis available. You will be charged the monthly fee listed above regardless of attendance.

Operating Hours
The after school program begins at end of the school day and runs until 6:00 PM.

Parents/Guardians are expected to pick up their children no later than the designated time of 6:00 PM. If you arrive later than this time for your pick-up, a late fee of $1.00 will be charged for every minute late. After three late pick-ups, your child may be removed from the program.

Below is an example activity schedule for a typical elementary day. Please note that while there is an hour allocated for homework, MEDLC is not an individual tutoring center.

Daily Sign-Out
Per the Policy on the Release of Children, for the safety of your child(ren), all parents, guardians and other authorized adults are required to sign out each child attending MEDLC every day.

Parents/Guardians MUST notify their child(ren)’s classroom teacher and MEDLC Co-Head Teacher in advance that a person, other than those pre-identified, will be picking up or dropping off his/her child(ren). Photo identification is required.

Parental Notification
Phone calls or texts will be used from staff to parents when immediate communication is needed (i.e. an illness, an injury has occurred, or an extreme behavior has been exhibited).

Snow days and delayed openings will be announced via the district’s alert system and will also be posted on the district website www.montville.net.

Alerts about miscellaneous announcements, billing reminders, and holiday MEDLC signups will be sent through the Remind App as well as through email. To sign up for Remind Text messages, please click on the Remind Tab on the left hand side of the screen.

Attendance Adjustments
If your child will not be attending MEDLC on a given day (this includes Daisies, Brownies or any other activity immediately after school), please submit a Daily Pickup Release in Parent Access by 11:30AM.

Without a Daily Pickup Release dismissing your child from MEDLC we must keep your child in the MEDLC program.

A child leaving MEDLC without permission may result in dismissal from the program.

No refunds are given for days not attended.

Inclement Weather / Emergency Closings
Snow day or emergency day procedures will be announced by the Montville Township Public Schools emergency alert system. Be sure you are signed up for this program.

  • If a two hour delayed opening is called for by the Montville Township Public Schools, MEDLC will be held after school.

  • If an early dismissal is called due to inclement weather, MEDLC will be closed.

  • If a state of emergency is called by the governor, or if the district’s schools are closed for snow or an emergency other than a state of emergency, MEDLC will be closed.

Vacations / Holidays
MEDLC will be open on some school scheduled holidays and vacation days. See Holiday MEDLC Info to learn more about upcoming Holiday MEDLC dates and details. There will be extra fees associated with Holiday MEDLC Aftercare.
