Chartwells Executive Chef Patrick Searl and Director of Dining Marcus D. Crawford, Sr. prepared samples of two new fun food ideas being considered as upcoming menu choices. The students could taste test both and vote for Warm Spiced Peaches or Apple Carrot Beet Salad with Citrus Mint Vinaigrette. While many students ranked the salad as number one, an informal, make-some-noise, vote placed Warm Spiced Peaches at the top of the ballot. Each student also received the recipes -- complete with fun facts about apples, peaches, carrots and beets -- to take home.

Chartwells, the district's food service provider, is known for quality, variety, and culinary excitement. In February, the Chartwells Discovery Kitchen visited Valley View's lunch room, providing students an opportunity to learn more about healthy eating.
