Dr. Arthur R. Dermer was the first Montville Township High School principal. On October 8, 1968 he broke ground with a ceremonial shovel. This gesture marked the official groundbreaking, making way for the building of MTHS.
In addition to Dr. Arthur R. Dermer (left), the school's principal, and Superintendent Nicholas C. Hayley Edelstein, Lily Smith, and Alexis Handler are the co-presidents of Gracie’s Army Foundation Club, a new and rapidly growing organization at Montville Township High School, with over 100 members. On Sunday, Sept. 22, the co-presidents, along with other club members, volunteered at the Gracie’s Army Foundation Go Gold 5K and Fun Run. Gracie Ferluge was diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma at the age of five. Now nine and in remission, her parents, Dina and Craig, founded the Gracie’s Army Foundation, a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting families with children battling cancer. Funds raised by the MTHS club go towards paying for chemotherapy, medication, gifts, and creating fun experiences for children fighting cancer.
