The Montville Theatre Company’s production of the fantastic and family friendly fantasy musical BIG FISH begins Thursday, March 6 at 7:00 p.m. A fabulous and fun adventure for all ages, the Montville Township High School [MTHS] run of the MTHS Drama Club’s spring musical will be performed for four shows only: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 6, 7, and 8 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, March 9 at 2:00 p.m.

BIG FISH is a musical that tells the story of Edward Bloom, a man who embellishes his life with fantastical tales. Bloom’s son, Will, struggles to discern truth from fiction as he tries to understand his father's larger-than-life stories. Ultimately, as Edward's health declines and Will seeks to uncover the real man behind the myths, BIG FISH explores the themes of family, love, and the power of storytelling.

Scott Baird will again direct the MTHS Theatre Company’s spring Broadway musical. Baird also serves as the Executive Producer and the Advisor to the MTHS Theatre Company. Audiences will remember his work from more than a decade of magnificent MTHS musicals including last season’s “Footloose.”

The Cast is comprised of more than three dozen grade 9 through grade 12 MTHS students. Additionally, BIG FISH also features students from Robert R. Lazar Middle School, and Hilldale, William Mason, and Woodmont Elementary Schools. All members of the BIG FISH company are students in the Montville Township Public Schools district.

The music and lyrics for this Broadway production were composed by Andrew Lippa. The musical’s book was written by John August. BIG FISH is based on the1998 novel, Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions,” by Daniel Wallace, and the 2004 film, “Big Fish,” directed by Tim Burton. MTHS audiences will remember Lippa’s music and lyrics from the MTHS Theatre Company’s 2020 spring production of the musical “The Addams Family.”

The MTHS Cast includes: Raina Alleyne, Sophia Baron, Sophia Billings, Vyshali Chitheedi, Kelly Colfin, Ryan Cortes, Brianna D’Aversa, Anthony DiBenedetto, Milena Sky Dorta, Kelsie Faherty, Natalia Fragomeni, Jovana Getova, Laya Gopinath, Jackson Greeley, Jorge Heras, Grace Hricay, Danylo Kondryshyn, Abigail Lee, Logan Lewis, Nicole Londono, Ben Mason, Philo Megala, Meghana Neelisetty, Alexandra Padula, Guliana Panico, Jamila Abu Rami, Logan Rendiero, Elissa Schwartz, Luhara Soeiro, Karolina Sudol, Evelyn Susnosky, Alex Tarnok, Giovanna Wallenburg, Demetra Triantafyllou, and Frank Wilkisson.

The BIG FISH elementary and middle school performers include: actors Fletcher Alkin, Michael Rybak, Vincent Scaglione, and Madeline Reynolds from William Mason Elementary School; actors Andrew Rees, Adi Pedapudl, and Travis Urspruch from Woodmont; and actors Meelan Patel from Hilldale, and Gavin Encarnacion from Lazar.

In addition to Baird, many of the MTHS Theatre Company’s Production Staff is returning to the creative team for this spring’s BIG FISH production including: Vocal Director: Ted Cherney, Choreographer: Lauren Moran Mills and Leala Mills, Music Director: Andrew Havington, Lighting Designer: Kevin Ohlweiler, Costume Designer: Maryanne Hannon, Set Designer: Brandon Frumolt, MTC Business Manager: Kelly Smith, Stage Crew Advisor: Arianna Majorczak, Student Stage Managers: Kate Justnes, Matthew Kraut and Nicole Longobardi, and Production Stage Manager Pamela Wilczynski.
