On January 12, 2024, 49 MTHS students traveled to Ramapo College to participate in the DECA Northwest Regionals competition. Based on their performance at the competition, 13 students qualified to proceed to the NJ DECA State Career Development Conference (SCDC) in Atlantic City, March 4-6, for their role play event. Additionally, 15 other MTHS students qualified for SCDC and will compete in written events, each writing a 10-20 page paper, which they will present to the judges in Atlantic City.
DECA stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America. In DECA students compete in marketing based role play and written events. High school students interested in entrepreneurship and business learn valuable problem solving skills when faced with the real life scenarios presented by the DECA organization.
At NJ DECA SCDC, the students will compete against high school students from across New Jersey. The winners will advance to the International Career Development Conference (ICDC), to compete against high schools from both the United States and other countries. ICDC is scheduled to be held in Anaheim, CA this April.
We are looking forward to the competition this year and are excited to see all of our MTHS students succeed! Good luck MTHS DECA!
