Montville Township High School students created 3 of the selected pieces of artwork that will be exhibited at the prestigious “Fresh Perspectives” installation at the Morris Museum in Morristown, New Jersey.
Judges selected only 50 pieces from the more than 250 submitted. Among them are 3 from the MTHS Fine Arts Department.
MTHS senior Victoria Zjawin’s needle felting, entitled “Sunrise on Haleakela”, along with junior Nicole Swords’ charcoal drawing “Crumbled,” and junior Julia Grzebielucha’s “Self Portrait in Sunlight” done in acrylic paint on canvas, will each be exhibited.
“This is amazing news,” said MTHS Fine Arts teacher Sharon Pflug-Moench. “Each year, each art teacher across the state can submit four pieces to be juried for the exhibition. This year over 250 pieces of student artwork were submitted, from 35 schools around the state. We are very proud of these 3 young MTHS artists.”
The students created their selected works of art in the MTHS Fine Arts Department classes. Zjawin is in art teacher Pflug-Moench’s class, Swords is in art teacher Paul Moench’s class, and Grzebielucha is in art teacher Alba Mezini’s class.
Montville Township High School is one of seven Montville Township Public Schools. MTPS encompasses five elementary schools, one middles school and MTHS. The pre-K to grade 12 district has 3,440 students enrolled, of which 1,083 attend MTHS.
The “Fresh Perspectives” installation at the Morris Museum will be held March 15 through May 26, 2024. The exhibit is open to the public. The Morris Museum, located at 6 Normandy Heights Road in Morristown, NJ, is open Wednesdays through Sundays from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. General admission is $12 with discounts available for seniors and students, children under 2, military personnel and Morris Museum Members may enter for free.
