MTHS - Students in Mrs. Stampfle and Mrs. Elwood's Principles in Anatomy class worked on their Integumentary System lab today. Students used the compound light microscope to examine a single hair strand, a magnifying glass to examine their skin's surface and used ink to examine their fingerprints.

MTHS - The MTHS Fine Arts Department would like to congratulate all of our New Jersey State Fair Award Winners.! The New Jersey State Fair is held each August at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, New Jersey. This year MTHS received 51 Awards with 22 of the awards being 1st Place Ribbons. Of those 22, two students were recognized for their Outstanding Achievement. Sean Zamota for his "Copper Raku Vase" in Ceramics and Saanvi Yalamanchili for her "Hand Sewn Original Silkscreen Tote Bag" in the area of Silkscreen. All of our 1st place award winning pieces are currently on display in the MTHS Rotunda showcases. And a special thank you and shout out to the talented members of our Fine Arts Department: Mrs. Pflug-Moench, Mr. Moench, Ms. Travers and Ms. Mezini for guiding our young artists in their creative endeavors.

MTHS - College visits have started at MTHS! We have 70 rep visits scheduled and will host a College Fair on Monday, October 21st, from 12:45 - 1:55 pm. These sessions are valuable opportunities for our 11th and 12th grade students to meet with college representatives, many of whom will be reviewing their applications. Juniors and Seniors can register for these visits through Scoir. For more information, contact the school counseling department, or your student's school counselor.

MTHS - Representatives from various MTHS clubs hosted a club fair in the main gym today. Students were able to learn more about the various clubs offered - whether they are service based, performance based, competition based or part of larger National organizations - and sign up for clubs that they would like to join. Parents are welcome to stop by the cafeteria tonight during Back-to-School Night to check out the clubs as well!

MTHS - Congratulations to Hong Jin Cao and Curtis B Wang who have been named National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) Semifinalists! These students join approximately 16,000 other Semifinalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. MTHS - Mrs. Pierce and Ms. Freeman's 9th grade English class visit the library for a brief orientation and book selection for independent reading. The MTHS Media Center is open to students from 6:30am-3:20pm daily. We are proud to have an extensive collection of fiction and nonfiction books geared to our student population. Additionally, all MTHS students have 24/7 access to educational databases for research.

MTHS - Research in Molecular Biology students practice pipetting with serological pipettes and micro pipettes. This course is designed to be skill driven and not textbook driven. The objectives are formulated to reflect the skills, behaviors, techniques, and proficiencies necessary to perform original research in molecular biology. The research performed will be on a topic chosen by The Waksman Institute at Rutgers University and students will rely heavily on bioinformatics databases.
