The Montville Township Board of Education honored the five third quarter Montville Township High School ShopRite STARS on Tuesday, April 16, 2024. MTHS - Students in Mrs. Reinknecht's chemistry class conducted double replacement reactions where two solutions will combine to potentially form a precipitate. If students observed the formation of a precipitate, they were able to determine the formula of the product. Students have learned how to write formulas and balanced equations and are now putting all of their skills together to predict products in chemical reactions.

Key Club's Annual Volleyball Marathon Shruthi Swaminathan, Writer March marks one of Montville Township High School’s most anticipated events - Key Club’s Volleyball Marathon. The Volleyball Marathon consists of teams made up of high school students from any grade playing volleyball against one another. It always occurs on a Friday night, and the tournament lasts for hours. Food and drink are provided, and the event is decorated to match the year’s theme. This year’s theme was Around the World. This allowed teams to represent various countries of their choice, chosen on a first-come, first-serve basis. To fit the theme, decorations and food representing different countries were on display. While the marathon was tons of fun, it truly is more than than just a competition. This year, Key Club donated proceeds from the event to The American Cancer Society, Operation Smile, Alex's Lemonade Stand, March of Dimes, and other non-profit organizations. Prep for the marathon began months in advance. To get ready for the night, Key Club created different committees - sponsorship, decoration, staff, etc. The decoration committee worked on banners, balloon arches, and other fun projects to create a fun and inviting atmosphere. The sponsorship committee reached out to local businesses that might potentially support the marathon. The staff committee oversaw and ran the marathon itself. These are just a few examples of all the work that goes into running such a large-scale event. Even if students were not on a team, many still went out to watch and support their friends. This year’s attendance was high; the numbers were made up of those handling, participating in, and watching the marathon. On May 29th, Montville will be hosting its very first combined Science Symposium, welcoming students from Research in Molecular Biology, Science Design and Research, and Biotechnology classes – all guests are welcome! Whether you’re curious about the science programs offered here at Montville, or simply want to support your fellow classmates and their research, feel free to join us for a night of science and snacks at Montville’s Science Symposium! If you’re looking for a more hands-on scientific demonstration, seek out the Biotechnology students to try out some lab techniques for yourself. Students from the

MTHS - Mr. Andes and Mr. Connolly's classes worked together once again on the College Game Day Trip project in Sports & Entertainment Marketing. For this semester's class, Mr. Andes students were in attendance for Mr. Connolly's student presentations. After each presentation, the students in Mr. Andes class asked questions about the presentation such as how far is the college from Montville, how long does it take to drive there and how much does it cost to stay at a hotel or AirBnB. This was an excellent opportunity for both classes!
