Stepped up security – what does that look like? Secure vestibules continue the district’s commitment to safety while meeting modern standards for admitting visitors. The Dec. 12 bond proposal seeks funding to build them at five schools: visit the link in our bio for details. Security Vestibules are proposed for Hilldale, Valley View, Woodmont, William Mason and MTHS. Lazar and Cedar Hill Have or are in the process of receiving a Security Vestibule.
MTHS -On Wednesday and Thursday, students in Mr. Butchko's Holocaust and Genocide Studies classes visited the National September 11th Memorial & Museum in New York City. This trip is the culmination of their 9/11 unit and has a profound impact on students.

MTHS - To celebrate Halloween yesterday, students in Mrs. Hinz's anatomy class recreated wounds using petroleum jelly, red food coloring, and cocoa powder and then discussed how wounds heal. Meanwhile, in Ms. Iemmello's public speaking class, students read spooky stories.

MTHS -Today is Raku Firing Day! Raku is an ancient Japanese ceramics technique. Students glaze their work, fire the piece and then put the fired piece into a flammable material (like paper) to starve it of oxygen and create colors in the glaze. The end result is beautiful!

MTHS- Today we hosted a college fair for 11th and 12th grade students. Reps from colleges and universities , as well as the military, were in attendance. These fairs provide students a chance to learn about academic programs and meet the reps who read their applications.
